Readers may remember the essay in our July 2012 issue called “Loving a Dog,” written by Liz Bayer as a tribute to her beloved companion, Canyon, whom she had lost to old age.
But all was not lost. Bayer and her husband have since adopted a new pup: a rescue, now about one year old. Her name is Samus.
